Therapy Dog Programs
Our Petting-PUPS animal assisted activity teams provide casual meet and greet opportunities for people in nursing homes, hospitals and assisted living centers. We also provide trained therapy dogs that reside in institutions.
All therapy teams start with the Petting-PUPS pet therapy certification course.
Reading-PUPS is a program which helps children with reading or speech difficulties, or those who just need practice reading, and increases motivation. Domesti-PUPS certified therapy teams are partnered with children who need to polish their skills by reading aloud to a dog.
PUPS-Teach-Us is an outreach program designed to educate the public on the tremendous benefits of the human-animal bond, responsible pet ownership and the rights and access issues of service dog/handler teams. Presentations are made to schools, churches, organizations and businesses who wish to explore the human-animal bond through PUPS-Teach-Us programs.
Through the Edu-PUPS program dogs are placed in a classroom environment to enhance learning and to aid in the emotional leveling of children. When students are calm and more at ease, they learn more easily and are less likely to cause disruptions in the classroom. Educators with their own dog can become a certified therapy team, or Domesti-PUPS can also provide a fully trained therapy dog for schools.
Praising-PUPS is a faith-based pet therapy program with a mission of sharing the Word of God through the assistance of animals. Whether we are providing children examples of how to treat others respectfully through watching animal behavior, or providing spiritual encouragement through the sharing of God’s creatures, Praising-PUPS provides a unique community outreach.
