Tips for Discussing Your Disability with Our Team

This session is a fact gathering process for us. The more complete information we have about your situation, the easier it is for us to determine if we are the best organization to assist you.

That being said, many people find it awkward or embarrassing (or uncomfortable and even painful) to talk about their illness. We ask you be as factual and open as you can when you are describing the challenges you face with your disability.

There may be a temptation to play down your symptoms to appear strong or brave. Try to describe the problems in an honest, factual and neutral way. We ask you to describe your condition, as it is now, not as the way your life used to be, or how you would hope your life could be in the future. It may not be easy, but if you do that, we will have a more complete picture of your situation, which provides us guidance in customizing your dog’s training. So be as honest as you can be.

When you are seeking a service dog that will assist you for many years to come, you want to select the best possible partner for your needs, and we want that too.

We look forward to talking with you!
